Thank you Elke for your feedback. I really appreciate your words and agree - we are more raised to be ashamed of or at least not be proud of being German. I still remember the Soccer world cup in 2006 in Germany - the first time after WWII were people were showing German flags. Quite impressive. So I guess things are changing slowly.

Hope you keep following me on the blog and please keep sharing your perspective!

Have a great Sunday!

Being German myself, I found it very touching what you wrote in the post above. And I can relate to most of the things you said. I think we in Germany are not brought up with a feeling of pride about being German, more the contrary, we often want to hide where we're from. Plus we often have to deal with negative perceptions of others. All this doesn't make it easy to really feel good about yourself being German. But - nothing is ever only good or bad. And in the end, it's nice to learn to appreciate where you're coming from and you who are. The important thing is to reflect on it, come to terms with it and therefore become able to interact with other people and cultures in a healthy way - not every part of life has to be a competition, right? Easy to say...but thank you for your blog and for helping us questioning perceptions!
